LEAD ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL)
You will serve as a LEAD ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL) in the Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC), Engineering Department, Main Propulsion and Electrical Division, Steam and Propulsion Support Code 266 of SOUTHWEST REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTER.
- You will serve as the technical engineering expert on the various Steam and Propulsion Support systems on a wide variety of supporting ships of the U. S. Navy in the region covered by Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) and other locations.
- You will serve as the Lead SWRMC Steam and Propulsion Support Equipment SME for shipboard, intermediate level, and depot level technical assistance on problems that have been determined to be beyond the capability of organizational level.
- You will coordinate and lead teams (to include GS-0802-11/12 personnel) with responsibility for functional checks, test and inspection, material condition assessment of major systems.
- You will conduct technical engineering investigations, research, and analysis for the solution of unusual of unprecedented technical engineering problems or in support of short and long-term engineering projects on assigned ships.
- You will initiate and implement process improvement initiatives to include maintaining status of initiatives and all associated reports and briefings to senior managers and outside agencies.
- You will act as design representative at meetings concerning problems encountered during ship inspection, repair and testing of Steam and Propulsion Support equipment.
Requirements
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical engineering guidance to assess the readiness of Steam and Propulsion Plant Systems during the repair, maintenance and modernization of naval ships by applying comprehensive knowledge of Steam Propulsion, Steam Auxiliaries, Reboilers, and/or associated testing requirements, in order to resolve complex engineering problems and ensure overall fleet readiness.
