Security Specialist

About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency, Defense Health Network Indo-Pacific, at Brian D. Allgood Army Community Hospital, Camp Humphreys, Republic of Korea. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation


  • Capture electronic fingerprints utilizing Live Scan systems and processes personnel background checks to support healthcare employee credentialing and employment vetting.
  • Review and processes personnel security clearance applications (including EPSQ) and manages security access data within federal adjudication databases (such as JPAS/DISS/DISS-JPAS).
  • Review military police blotters for derogatory information, conducts local file checks, and prepares formal Reports of Unfavorable Information (DA Form 5248-R) or Serious Incident Reports as required.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and crime prevention surveys of facilities to recommend appropriate electronic and mechanical security devices.
  • Coordinate, develop, and maintain up-to-date installation Antiterrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP), OPSEC, and physical security contingency plans for emergency events.
  • Deliver physical security briefings, crime prevention training, and foreign travel clearance briefings to command travelers, military personnel, and civilian staff.
  • Perform Assistant Information Assurance Security Officer (IASO) duties by delivering automation security briefings and troubleshooting software applications for network users.
  • Control, log, audit, and destroy classified defense information and files in strict compliance with Information Security Program regulations (such as AR 380-5).
  • Utilize office automation applications to prepare, compile, format, and distribute special and recurring administrative reports on program progress and metrics.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: screening personnel security folders for administrative completeness; utilizing personnel security databases to verify clearance eligibility; AND assisting in conducting physical security inspections of facility assets. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Security Management and Homeland Security. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
