COMPUTER ENGINEER

You will serve as a Software Support Activity (SSA) Lead in the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, SE & ALRE Group, Support Equipment Department, SE Engineering Integration Division, SE Software Branch of NAVAIRWARCENADLKE.


  • You will serve as the lead for managing large-scale, complex software support efforts for Support Equipment (SE) end items, ensuring software robustness, safety, quality, and performance.
  • You will provide leadership and technical expertise for all software engineering functions, including cybersecurity compliance, software testing, configuration management, and lab support.
  • You will review test reports, evaluate research findings, and assess technical progress to support the development of new software support processes and tools.
  • You will evaluate the development and design work of organic software teams and external contractors to ensure alignment with program goals and requirements.
  • You will identify, develop, and enhance SSA processes and ensure all team members are trained in their use.
  • You will generate requirements, perform feasibility assessments, and participate in all System Engineering Technical Reviews (SETR).
  • You will oversee the design, development, and management of lab space and equipment for both classified and unclassified processing activities.
  • You will provide guidance and mentorship to junior personnel and team members to foster a culture of technical excellence.

Requirements

I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (DP-04/GS-12-13) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional COMPUTER ENGINEER performing some or all of the following duties: 1) Demonstrating technical expertise in software engineering processes, software testing, software configuration management, technical documentation, and developing specifications and contract work statements; 2) Providing oversight direction, management, and coordination of a significant technical effort; 3) Mentoring and guiding junior personnel and other team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement; 4) Leading Software Support Activity (SSA) support, including design changes, maintenance, test and implementation of data analytics, network, cyber security, and support software projects within the assigned system software; 5) Reviewing contractor research, analysis, design documentation, development, tests, or equipment to determine conformance with contract technical requirements; and 6) Applying knowledge of cybersecurity requirements and processes to ensure compliance and maintain system integrity.
